Document Description
The applicant proposes to restore functional floodplain elevation to the north bank of Putah Creek for 800 feet downstream of the Putah Diversion Dam. Sediment would be removed from the floodplain and used to fill the edge of the north bank on existing high ground that is out of the active channel. The project features a rock weir above an island in the channel that will serve as a gravel retaining structure for salmon spawning habitat. One hundred cubic yards of 3-inch minus gravel will be placed upstream of the rock weir. The weir and gravel bed will serve as a crossing during construction and afterward as a low flow crossing for maintenance of the north bank. In the winter months, the gravel bed will enhance salmon spawning habitat. The California Department of Fish and Game is executing a Lake and Streambed Alteration Agreement number 1600-2008-0205-3 pursuant to Section 1602 of the Fish and Game Code to the project applicant, Chris Lee, Solano County Water Agency.
