Document Description
The California Department of Fish and Wildlife (CDFW) has executed Lake and Streambed Alteration Agreement No. ELD-42546-R2, pursuant to section 1602 of the Fish and Game Code to the project Applicant, Sacramento Municipal Utility District. The project is limited to the replacement and/or repair of six existing undersized culverts to accommodate 100-year flow projections. Culverts 614, 732, and 2000 will be removed with an excavator during the dry season. Asphalt concrete or aggregate base will be sawcut and removed from the existing culvert locations with a buffer of approximately 10 feet on either side of the culvert. The footprint of the excavation sites will equal the diameter of the proposed new culverts plus an additional one foot on either side. The depth of the excavation sites will vary but will be sufficient to allow for approximately 1 foot of cover over the new culvert and extend approximately 6 inches below the invert for culvert bedding. The replacement culverts will be either a circular or elliptical corrugated metal pipe (CMP). All excavated areas will be backfilled using native soil or cement slurry to provide approximately one foot of cover over culvert and restore road surfaces (i.e., asphalt concrete or aggregate base), as appropriate. Replacement of culverts 615, 1115, and 1216 are located on perennial streams and will generally consist of the steps listed above. However, replacement of culverts on perennial streams will also divert and dewater the streams prior to replacement of culverts.
