Document Description
The California Department of Fish and Wildlife (CDFW) has executed Lake and Streambed Alteration Agreement EPIMS No. ELD-32536-R2, pursuant to section 1602 of the Fish and Game Code to the project Applicant, Sacramento Municipal Utility District. The project is limited to the replacement and relocation of Culvert 1045. The stream flow upstream and downstream of the culvert will be diverted prior to construction through use of temporary diversion piping. The water diversion will consist of the installation of gravel bag berms and a stream-bypass pump and pipe system approximately 5 feet upstream of the culvert improvements to prevent stream flow from entering the work area. A portion of the existing rock embankment on the upslope side of the road will be broken up and several shrubs and small hardwood snags will be removed to allow for the road widening. The rock will be pre-drilled and then removed using hammers mounted on excavators. If necessary, non-explosive (expanding) demolition grout may also be used. Up to approximately 40 linear feet of the road will be widened by up to 10 feet. The surface of the road will be dirt. Approximately 14 cubic yards (34 linear feet) of rock slope protection will be placed along the downslope side of the road. Rock removed from the embankment will be used whenever possible. The new culvert will then be installed within the road prism approximately 50 feet to the west of the existing culvert location. The new culvert will include a corrugated metal pipe (CMP) down drain dissipater with a rock dissipater at the outflow. The existing culvert will be removed and the existing road over the culvert will be regraded. A native soil drainage ditch of 40 linear feet will be constructed along the edge of the widened road to channel flow from the perennial stream into the new culvert.
