Document Description
The proposed project would pave an approximately 350 foot long portion of the pedestrian/bicycle trail located between Stonebrook Drive and Willow Pond Circle. This segment of the pedestrian/bicycle trail is currently overlaid with gravel and is not compliant with requirements of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). An approximately 50 foot long, small guardrail would also be installed along a portion of the northern edge of the trail to provide a safety barrier for pedestrians and bicyclist where the trail narrows adjacent to a drainage culvert. Minor alterations to the sidewalks adjacent to the trail entrance would be made to provide ADA-compliant "detectable surface" panels. Finally, pedestrian crosswalk striping and signage would be installed on Stonebrook Drive at the entrance to the trail.
Work would consist of minor excavation to prepare the pavement bed, installation of pavement, and installation of the guardrail. Portions of sidewalk would also be removed and replaced with "detectable surface" panels, and pedestrian crosswalk and signage would be installed. All work would be within City of Elk Grove right-of-way. The project would not change the horizontal or vertical alignment of the trail, or increase or decrease the width. No trees would be removed as part of project construction, and no encroachment into wetlands would occur.
