Document Description
The Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CAL FIRE) would provide funding to the Watershed Research and Training Center to offer forestry and fire trainings to Local Conservation Corps (LLCs). The purpose of the trainings is to advance individual LCC Corps Members’ career development in the forestry and fire workplace and to increase diversity in California’s forestry and fire workforce. Trainings include manual and mechanical ground disturbing activities, including creating fire lines, tree removal, and mastication of woody material. These activities have been evaluated by the East Bay Regional Parks District, including preparation of the “Wildfire Hazard Reduction and Resource Management Plan” Environmental Impact Report (EIR) that guides ongoing vegetation management activities at Tilden Regional Park.
