Document Description
The Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CAL FIRE) would provide funding to the Watershed Research and Training Center to offer forestry and fire trainings to Local Conservation Corps (LLCs). The purpose of the trainings is to advance individual LCC Corps Members’ career development in the forestry and fire workplace and to increase diversity in California’s forestry and fire workforce. Training activities include using hand tools to scrap vegetation to mineral soil and create fire lines that are three feet wide and up to 600 feet long. These activities have been evaluated by the East Bay Regional Parks District, including preparation of the “Wildlife Hazard Reduction and Resource Management Plan” Environmental Impact Report (EIR) that guides ongoing vegetation management activities at Tilden Regional Park.
