Document Description
Republic Services, Inc., formerly Browning-Ferris Industries of California, proposes to establish approximately 44-acres of enhanced and new riparian and wetland habitats within the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power's (LADWP) Chatsworth Reservoir property to mitigate for the loss of these same habitats at the Sunshine Canyon Landfill near Sylmar, California resulting from its Closure and Extension projects. The Chatsworth Reservoir property covers 1,318 acres in the northwestern portion of the San Fernando Valley in the City of Los Angeles, 411 acres of which comprises the former water supply reservoir; the remaining acreage consists largely of surrounding undeveloped land. The mitigation site, which would be designated as a conservation easement in compliance with regulatory permitting requirements, would be located immediately to the west of the reservoir levee.
