The Lassen County Fire Safe Council is requesting $99,999 from the Sierra Nevada Conservancy Strategic Council Opportunity Grants Program to remove fire fuels in the understory of residential parcels that total 256 acres of mixed conifer forest and oak woodland to create 100-foot clearings around homes. Removed fuels will be chipped and used to generate electrical power in a biomass fuel facility.
