Document Description
The AOC has acquired the parcel for a new courthouse, will construct a new 36-courtroom courthouse on the parcel, and will operate the courthouse for the Superior Court. The new courthouse will replace existing court facilities in the city of San Bernardino. The AOC's proposes to change the original project by replacing three planned half-sized Juvenile Delinquency courtrooms, two hearing rooms, specialized holding and other support spaces on the 10th floor with three full size courtrooms, associated holding areas for in-custody detainees, and other uses for, general administrative use and exhibits storage. Juvenile Delinquency cases will remain in the existing Juvenile Delinquency Courthouse at 900 East Gilbert Street rather than moving to the New San Bernardino Courthouse, and the Supreme Court will consolidate staff and caseload from other court closures in San Bernardino County into the new courthouse. The proposed revision will support current caseload revisions caused by funding reductions incurred since 2008.
