The EIR focuses on the reconstruction of the building at the existing site or three alternative sites. The Chowchilla Heritage Park/Heritage Center Project is designed to reconstruct the Dodge Brothers garage (one of the oldest buildings in Chowchilla) to be used as a "Welcome Center" and potentially house local non-profit community groups or other local activities which may include retail operations. The Welcome Center concept is to provide a location where the history of Chowchilla can be visualized from old photographs, exhibits, and written materials. There are two alternative locations under consideration 1) On Front Street south of Robertson Blvd. 2) Two vacant land parcels generally between Second Street and Third Street.
