Document Description
The University of California will facilitate development of a roughly 124,000 sf replacement facility for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Southwest Fisheries Science Center (SWFSC) in San Diego by leasing land to NOAA for construction and operation of the replacement facility. The location of the replacement facility is a 3.3 acre site within Scripps Institution of Oceanography (SIO) Neighborhood at UC San Diego. The project site is currently undeveloped.
The existing SWFSC facility is a 4 building complex located at the edge of an eroding high coastal bluff. Existing SWFSC buildings are threatened by ongoing coastal bluff erosion adn retreat. Two of the four existing buildings will be demolished by NOAA.
