Banks Pumping Plant Hillside Improvement Project
Document Type
NOE - Notice of Exemption
Document Description
The existing terraced hillside between DWR's Administration Building and the Banks Pumping Plant is sloughing, and the hillside movement threatens the pumping plant and access road. Efforts to shore up the slope with walls, etc., have not worked. DWR intends to excavate 75,000 yards of material from the slope to reduce the slope angle. Drains will be added to reduce soil saturation on the slope.

Reasons for Exemption
Project is the repair of the pumping plant's matrix, wtih no expansion of the facility. Project site habitat is disturbed and redueral grassland. No wetlands will be affected. Excavation of site is steep-sloped and between plant facilities, so access by animals is limited; few squirrel-size burrows are there.
