Document Description
The Travis AFB Hazardous Waste Storage Facility (Facility) is located in the northeast corner of the 5,228 acre air force base property. The Facility consists of a drum storage building, Building 1365, and a tank farm east of the building. Building 1365 is 145 feet (north-south) by 95 feet (east-west) housing two banks of drum storage bays. The tank farm contains six aboveground storage tanks. The capacity of each tank is approximately 2,500 gallons, for a total capacity of 15,000 gallons. The Facility occupies a 2.25 acre site surrounded by a six-foot high chain link security fence with a three barbed-wire trigger. An office and personal protective equipment building (Building 1366) is also located within the security fence. Building 1365 is at least 70 feet from the security fence.

The project is an existing facility and the renewal of the Hazardous Waste Facility Permit will allow the facility to continue operations for the next 10-year term of the permit. The allowed types and volumes of wastes handled and stored will not change. Also, no physical expansion of the facility is proposed. These operations will occur within existing secondary containment.
