BWD proposes to transfer to SDCWA through MWD water made available through the temporary fallowing of acreage historically planted to rice within BWD that would have been planted to rice in 2008 in the abscence of the transfer. The fallowed acreage totals less than 20% of the cultivated acreage within BWD. The transfer water would be provided at Lake Oroville and would flow through the natural river channels to the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta, where it would be pumped at the SWP Banks Pumping Plant.
