Document Description
Approval of the Quarry Excavation Permit would allow for the extraction of up to an additional 9.36 million tons of sand and gravel in eight mining areas, or Resource Management Areas (RMA), over a 15-year period with concurrent reclamation. The 15-year period includes 2 years of premining mitigation activity, 10 years of active excavation, followed by 3 years of reclamation and monitoring. KRC has estimated that excavation of individual RMAs would take 1 to 4 years, depending on the size of the RMA. Reclamation and reclamation monitoring of each RMA occur for 3 years after the completion of excavation for the respective RMA. The project site includes extending the operating life of the existing processing facility.
