Document Description
The project consists of a plan to develop the San Francisco Bay Area Water Trail by designating various existing and planned launches for non-motorized small boats (NMSBs) throughout the nine-county Bay Area (San Francisco, Marin, Sonoma, Napa, Solano, Contra Costa, Alameda, Santa Clara, San Mateo). The plan includes 28 strategies to govern the appropriate development of existing and new sites for NMSB use. The plan also includes development of signage and other informational media; an education, outreach, and stewardship program; and a process to evaluate and designate potential sites for inclusion in the Water Trail. The project would promote awareness of and access to water-based forms of recreation, and facilitate safe and environmentally sound boating practices.
