The City is currently undertaking the preliminary design of th Legaciy Park Project, an integrated multi-benefit project, which aims to: * Reduce the City's contribution to pathogenic degradation of Malibu Creek, Malibu Lagoon and nearby beaches by disenfecting stormwater runoff from the local watershed to remove pathogens; * Develop the Legacy Park site into a community amenity that will provide valuable habitat, education and passive recreation opportunities in conjunction with water quality improvement opportunities; * Reduce the City's contribution to nutrient loads in Malibu Creek, Malibu Lagoon, and nearby beaches by constructing a collection system and advanced treatment facility for areas identified in previous studies as high priorities for addressing nitrogen contamination.
