Document Description
The project would widen a 7.6 mile segment of U.S. 101 to a 6-lane freeway from the Monterey Road interchange in Gilroy to the State Route (SR) 129 interchange in an unincorporated portion of northern San Benito County. Currrently, this segment is a 4-lane highway. The project would also reconstruct the U.S. 101/SR 25 interchange; widen the southbound off-ramp at the U.S. 101/SR 129 interchange; add an auxiliary lane in each direction on U.S. 101 between the Monterey Road interchange; and extend Santa Teresa Boulevard from Castro Valley Boulevard to the new U.S. 101/SR 25 interchange. Frontage roads would be constructed as needed. A grade separation would be constructed at the Union Pacific Railroad crossing on SR 25, just west of Bloomfield Avenue.
