Document Description
Note: Record of Decision BRT is a new mode of transit in San Francisco and represents a package of features that together create rapid and reliable transit service for the benefit of passengers along a given corridor, and the transit system as a whole. The Van Ness Avenue BRT project will operate existing bus service in a dedicated transit lane for a two-mile-long stretch from South Van Ness Avenue at Mission Street to Van Ness Avenue at Lombard Street by converting a northbound and a southbound mixed-flow traffic lane in the center of the roadway to dedicated transit lanes. Project features include: at or near level boarding, consolidated transit stops, high quality stations, platform proof of payment, traffic signal optimization, fewer left turn pocket lanes, transit signal priority, pedestrian safety enhancements, and replacement of the overhead contact support system/streetlight system, including poles.
