Document Description
The existing bridge is 164.6 meters (540 feet) long, 9.6 meters (32 feet) wide and carries 2 lanes of traffic over the San Joaquin River. The bridge structure is a 5-span, cast-in-place reinforced concrete box girder with cast-in-place reinforced concrete piles and abutments supported on small diameter driven steel piles. The County plans to install timber bumpers and catcher blocks (structures to prevent bridge superstructures from falling off its supports) at abutments1 and 6; plce hinge cable restrainers and pipe seat extenders near bents 3 and 4, and construct two concrete two concrete steel shell piles (CISS) and outrigger concrete bentcaps at bents 2,3,4, and 5.
