This project is located within the 3.9-acre state-owned land parcel that currently functions as the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CAL FIRE) Shasta Forest Fire Station, also known as Station 58. The address of this property is 16064 Homestake Road, Redding CA 96033. The project will consist of pouring a 10 x 12 foot concrete pad and installing a backup emergency generator. There will be approximately 100 feet of trenching to connect this new emergency backup generator to the Liquid Propane Gas Tank and to the barracks.

This project fits within Classes 3 and 4 of Categorical Exemptions described in state law. No unusual circumstances exist on this property which would preclude the use of a Notice of Exemption. A search on the Natural Diversity Data Base, field visits by a California Department of Fish and Game Botanist and a CAL FIRE staff archaeologist were completed during CAL FIRE's environmental review. No negative effect to any species of concern, including threatened or endangered flora or fauna, or their habitat is anticipated, nor will there by any impact to cultural resources. CAL FIRE's Unit Environmental Coordinator has reviewed the project and determined that no significant environmental impact will occur.
