Document Description
The project entails geotechnical investigations in the vicinity of the Crystal Springs/San Andreas Transmission System (CSSATS) Pipeline for the design and planning phase of the CSSATS upgrade project. The geotechnical investigation will enhance understanding of the area's geology by identifying and documenting soil and bedrock type and characteristics, depth to groundwater, seismic hazards, the location and/or proximity of the San Andreas Fault, and slope stability information. The work entails geotechnical borings, fault trenches, test pits, exploratory excavations, and seismic refraction/reflection testing. The project area is approximately 378 acres, and includes the area 300 feet on either side of the CSSATS pipeline. In addition, geotech investigations will take place at the Harry Tracy Water Treatment Plant, and in the vicinity of the Crystal Springs Pumphouse, at the base of the Crystal Springs Dam.
