Document Description
The Operator intends to alter the streambed to repair an eroded bank along the southbound off ramp of Highway 101. The work consists of 295 linear feet of bank protection, mostly of ungrouted rock rip-rap placed at the toe and then planted with native riparian species within the rock, and above the rock. The design requires 9 linear feet of rock gabions, covered with concrete, to transition from the 2:1 repaired slope, to the existing vertical concrete wall on the upstream side of the project area. This creek should dry out in late summer, and contains mulefat and coyote bush as the dominant species. Gaviota Creek is one of the best steelhead creeks in Santa Barbara County.
