Document Description
The proposed project would improve response of this critical Los Angeles River crossing to an acceptable standard resulting from a moderate seismic event by either retrofitting the existing structure or replacing the 6th Street Viaduct entirely. Several alternatives were considered during the project development phase of the project. Criteria used to select the alternatives for carrying forward for detailed analysis in the environmental document include construction and maintenance costs, life span of the facility, constructability, historic preservation, community disruption, and structural and operational safety. Based on the results of the preliminary screening analysis, a No Build Alternative and two Build Alternatives will be analyzed in the environmental document.
