Document Description
The proposed project consists of increasing the existing solid waste handling, recycling, and composting activities to a rate consistent with the design capacity at the Yuba- Sutter Disposal, Inc. (YSDI) Integrated Waste Recovery Facility (IWRF) and the Feather River Organics Compost Facility (FRO). The project does not include the construction of any new buildings at the YSDI site. Solid waste handling, recycling, and composting at the YSDI facilities would increase from 1,080 tons per day (currently permitted) to 1,870 tons per day. A primary purpose of the proposed project is to accommodate current demand for waste diversion and waste management services, and anticipated growth for these services due to continued population growth in the region and state requirements for reducing the amount of solid waste that is disposed of in landfills. The project would assist the region's proper handling of certain hazardous wastes in accordance with state guidelines by allowing for the continued collection and handling of universal wastes, the continued collection of used oil and drained oil filters (at the IWRF Public Buyback), and by implementing new handling, training and recordkeeping and weight reporting requirements for treated wood waste (TWW).
