Document Description
The removal of an earthen berm from the top of the bank of Salmon Creek south of the town of Occidental. The berms appear to have been placed to prevent flood waters from Salmon Creek from entering the property and impacting the homes and related facilites. Depending on the decisions of other agencies the berm may also be moved back further from the top of the creek bank. A mini-excavator and hand labor would be used to remove the berm, with the excavator operating from the parking areas associated with the houses and with no need to operate in the stream channel or on the stream side of the berm. A plywood screen would be maintained between the excavator bucket and the stream to keep any dirt from going into the stream channel. Issuance of a Streambed Alteration Agreement Number 1600-2007-0058-3 is pursuant to Fish and Game Code Section 1602.
