(a) The land acquisition portion of the project proposes to permanently protect up to 260 acres of land along the Salinas River corridor for long-term public ownership and management by the City of Paso Robles as part of the planned Salinas River Corridor Vision Plan. (b) The restoration portion of the project proposes to implement storm water remediation efforts to surface channels which discharge directly to the Salinas River in order to stabilize banks, slow the velocity of storm water, and naturally filter pollutants before the runoff enters the river channel. NOTE: This exemption notice covers the collection of information for the restoration project and not the project design itself.

(a) Acquisition of land within the river corridor is intended to transfer ownership to a public entity (City of Paso Robles) so as to preserve open space and habitat value, prevent encroachment in the floodplain, and allow for recreational opportunities; (b) the information collection phase of the restoration portion of the project is intended to enable the City and environmental regulatory agencies to determine if the project meets the criteria for Categorical Exemption under Section 15333 (Small Habitat Restoration Project). A separate and subsequent environmental determination will be filed for the restoration project dependent on the outcome of project information collection.
