Document Description
The California Department of Fish and Game is executing Lake or Streambed Alteration Agreement number 1600-2009-0094-R2, pursuant to Section 1602 of the Fish and Game Code to the project applicant, City of Stockton, Public Works Department.
The project proposes to raise Eight Mile Road over the UPRR tracks between Davis Road and Lower Sacramento Road. The roadway will have wide sidewalks on each side of the road that will also accommodate pedestrians and bicyclist and will have railing separating the vehicular traffic from the pedestrian/bicycle traffic. The roadway will have a raised landscaped median, standard street lighting, and will accommodate four lanes of traffic in each direction. The new bridge over the railroad track will accommodate current UPRR standards and will provide for one additional track in the future. The alignment of Eight Mile Road will be shifted slightly to the north so the overcrossing can be constructed while keeping the existing roadway open and to avoid impacts to Pixley Slough, located south of Eight Mile Road. Corresponding utility relocations will be required. During construction, the existing at-grade railroad crossing will remain in operation for public and construction traffic until the roadway improvements are complete.
