Document Description
The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) proposes to widen the shoulders on both sides of State Route (SR) 158 to approximately five feet, from U.S. Highway 395 to North Shore Drive. The project would also replace three existing corrugated steel pipes and add flared-end sections at post mile 0.4, 0.5, and 0.7. Between post miles 0.8 and 0.9, new right of way would be purchased and the existing slope would be cut further back forming a 2:1 slope. In the same location, an asphalt concrete dike and overside drain would be installed and rock slope protection would be placed on the downstream side. Rumble strips would be added to the highway to designate the highway shoulder.
