Document Description
The Salt River Ecosystem Restoration Project includes wetland and upland restoration, erosion-reduction projects in the Wildcat Hills, excavation of a new Salt River Channel, and long-term maintenance. In the context of this larger project, the Ocean Protection Council action is to provide funding to restore the last 2.5 miles of the Salt River Channel and associated riparian floodplain, which would reestablish connectivity to the Williams Creek tributary. The Salt River Channel would be excavated and designed to carry flows up to a 2-year flood event. The excavated channel would alleviate current flooding problems caused by excess sediment in the Salt River.
