The project will model the pathways of a shallow ocean wastewater plume; develop a Source Tracking methodology using microbial DNA analysis; complete an analysis of microbial DNA in the wastewater plume pathways near Hammonds Beach; correlate data on shallow ocean wastewater discharge with impaired beaches throughout California; and provide a resource for wastewater managers in their decision making process for infrastructure improvement.
