The project is the excavation and recovery of vertebrate fossils, identified as partially articulated cervical vertebrae, humerus, ulna, mandible, and anterior rib of a large extinct carmel (Camelops sp.). This excavation is required for the protection for the protection and conservation of this very significant 1.1 million-year-old fossil specimen. The specimen is located within Fault Wash in the eastern Borrengo Badlands.
