Document Description
The California Department of Veterans Affairs proposes to remove and replace the existing heating and cooling system within the Sacramento Headquarters building. The existing ducts will be used and all controls related to the heating and cooling system will be gutted and upgraded on each floor. In the mechanical room, the motors and heating/cooling coils will be removed but the existing fan boxes will remain in place. A new fan and motor will be added. New coils will replace the aged, less efficient coils. A new direct digital control system will be installed to control the new system efficiently.

All project activities will be completed internally and will not involve alteration of external features of the building. Because the building is over fifty years old, the State consulted with the State Office of Historic Preservation (SHPO). A letter of concurrence that the project will not impact the building's historical significance has been provided by SHPO pursuant to Public Resources Code Section 5024(f).
