Document Description
Note: Project WITHDRAWN per lead - 04/02/2014. The ~950 acre site is located in southwestern Newark and is generally bound by Mowry Avenue, Cherry Street, Stevenson Boulevard, and the Mowry Slough. Area 3 has a 1992 General Plan designation of Special Industrial. Area 4 is west of Area 3 and extends to Mowry Slough. Area 4 has a 1992 General Plan called for a Specific Plan to be prepared as a detailed guide to development of the Area. A total of 638 acres: all of Area 4 and a 77 acre parcel in Area 3 are evaluated for development, the balance of Area 3 is not envisioned for further development. The Areas 3 & 4 Specific Plan allows for development of up to 1,260 housing units of various densities, an up to 600 student elementary school, a golf course, open space areas, as well as retention of existing light industrial and institutional uses.
