Reasons for Exemption
The project is considered exempt from CEQA pursuant to Guidelines Sections 15301, Existing Facilities, and 15304, Minor Alterations to Land. The work will be contained to the existing right-of-way and the new sidewalk will be located within a landscaped area that was previously reconstructed in conjunction with the widening of 203. A few existing parking spaces may be removed. However, based upon the Mammoth Lakes 2005 Parking Study, there is an excess of parking in this zone, so no significant effect is expected. No mature trees will be removed to accommodate the improvements.
