The South Delta Temporary Barriers Project consists of the installation of temporary rock barriers in several locations in the South Delta on a seasonal basis to alleviate adverse water level effects on local agricultural diverters caused by operation of the State Water Project and the Central Valley Project. The project is amended may result in impacts to Swainson's hawk (Buteo swainsoni), giant garter snake (Thamnophis gigas), riparian brush rabbit (Oncorhynchus tshawytscha) which are protected under the California Endangered Species Act, requiring issuance of an amendment to the applicant's existing California Incidental Take Permit ("Permit").
