Notice of Exemption

Exempt Status
Categorical Exemption
Type, Section or Code
Section 15301(e)
Reasons for Exemption
This project consists of repairs and minor alterations of an existing public structure involving negligible or no expansion of use (CEQA Guidelines 15301). This is one of a class of projects the Secretary for Resources has found do not have a significant effect on the environment, and therefore is declared to be categorically exempt from the requirement for preparing an environmental document. CDCR consulted with the Office of Historic Preparation (OHP) and obtained formal concurrence from the State Historic Preservation Officer (1/2/07) that the project will not result in a substantial adverse change to the East and West Block buildings at San Quentin State Prison. CDCR will continue to coordinate with OHP as the plans and specifications are further development and refined.
