The project involves remediation of impacted soils in accordance with the methods and procedures presented in the Draft Removal Action Workplan (RAW), so as to facilitate the purchase of the Site by a major retailer, which will restore the currently vacant Site for economic use. The proposed removal action includes: Clearing the Site of all remnant concrete foundations and any vegetation that may impede the proposed removal action, excavation of approximately 7,000 cubic yards (10,000 tons) of impacted soils from the Site, temporary stockpiling and characterization of impacted soil, loading of excavated soils into trucks or bins, transportation of excavated soils and treatment or disposal at a licensed facility, and confirmation sampling on bottom and sidewalls of excavation to ensure that remediation goals have been achieved.
