Document Description
Tile drain discharge and tailwater will be filtered through a series of vegetated agricultural ditches to decrease high nutrient and sediment concentrations. A portion of this filtered water is to be recycled and used for irrigation and watering ag roads to reduce dust. The remaining water will exit through an existing pipe which drains the current system, however, water quantity, sediment and nutrient loads will be greatly reduced. Improved water quality will provide benefit to the surrounding environment and adjacent habitat.

Creation of the vegetated agricultural ditches will consist of grading on land that is less than 10% slope according to the NRCS Soil Survey of San Benito County. Additionally, the grading will take place on land that has been used exclusively for agricultural purposes and is exempt under county ordinance.
