Document Description
The proposed project consists of widening Sierra College Boulevard on both sides of the road from El Don Drive to south if Interstate 80, and from the Granite Drive intersection north to Taylor Road. Grading Plan Sheets are included. El Don to I-80. The section between Rocklin Road and the Sierra College Campus northern boundary will be widened to 5 lanes with a median (3 lanes southbound and 2 lanes northbound), and will include curb, gutter, and sidewalk along the western frontage. From this point northward, the roadway will taper down to 4 lanes without a median in order to cross Secrete Ravine utilizing the existing box culverts without lengthening the culverts. Instead, the headwalls on the culverts will be raised and retaining walls and barrier rails constructed to keep the roadway out of the creek and within the existing right of way. Granite Drive to Taylor Road. This section of roadway will be widenend from 2 to 4 lanes including median, paved shoulders and, as appropriate, turn lanes at intersections. Roadside drainage will be conveyed in roadside ditches. Pipe culverts located at the unnamed tributaries to Sucker Ravine will be extended to accommodate the 4 lane roadway. The existing traffic signals at Brace Road and Taylor Road will be modified to accommodate the widened roadway. Minor improvements to Brace and Taylor Roads east and west of Sierra College Boulevard will be necessary to accommodate roadway tapers and flares necessary to transition the existing roadway section to the expanded intersection at Sierra College Boulevard.
