Document Description
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers proposes to modify Success Dam located on the Tule River, 8 miles east of Porterville, CA. Structural deficiencies in the dam's foundation could result in potential dam failure in the event of major earthquake. Modifications to the existing dam are needed to eliminate the dam safety risk of catastrophic dam failure and downstream flooding, and to restore full project benefits, including flood damage reduction, irrigation, and recreation. In addition to flood damage reduction, and water supply, the Lake Success project also provides recreation opportunities, including boating, water skiing, swimming, and fishing.
