Present Land Use
The project site includes an active quarry and is designated Rangeland in the Mendocino County General Plan; the site is zoned Rangeland.
Document Description
The project would add a new Mineral Processing Combining District to the County's zoning ordinance, and rezone ±18 acres of the site to the new district. The project includes a use permit/modification to expand the existing Harris Quarry, allowing for extraction and processing of 200,000 cubic yards of aggregate per year for 30 years and production of up to 150,000 tons of asphalt per year for the same period. In August 2019, in response to prior litigation, the County prepared and circulated the 2019 Revised DEIR for public comment to reassess two alternatives for the project: Alternative 4, an extended quarry and temporary asphalt processing facility; Alternative 5, a redesign of the project relative to nighttime activities and construction of a partial highway interchange at the project's access driveway. The 2019 Revised FEIR responds to comments received on the 2019 Revised DEIR and makes minor revisions to the 2019 Revised DEIR.
