The proposed project consists of constructing a 140 foot tall telecommunications tower along with a new communications vault, generator building, and generator. The communications tower is needed to provide essential emergency communications linkage for the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CDF) emergency response and fire protection command and control throughout the state. These facilities will replace deteriorating and obsolete structures including three 60 foot tall wood pole antennas, a radio vault/generator building, propane tank, and generator.

Section 15301, 15302, 15304
Reasons for Exemption
The project would replace deteriorating and obsolete telecommunications equipment and remove a former residence, garage, and fire lookout tower. The project should involve minor alterations to the land because the project has existing access for construction, it does not require disturbance of sensitive habitat, and the project will not substantially alter the scenic qualities of the mountain.
