Historically, the proposed project site was not developed and has been in active agricultural production. Currently, a productive grapefruit orchard occupies approximately two-thirds of the proposed site. The Arantine Hills site is designated as "Agriculture/Possible Future Urban Use" on the General Plan and zoned "Agricultural". A General Plan Amendment will be concurrently processed to convert this site to the "Specific Plan" designated to allow for development of the Arantine Hills Specific Plan.
