Document Description
The City of San Diego General Plan Update is proposed to replace the existing 1979 Progress Guide and General Plan. The General Plan sets out a long-range, comprehensive framework for how the city will grow and develop, provide public services, and maintain the qualities that define San Diego over the next 20-30 years. The proposed update has been guided by the City of Villages growth strategy and citywide policy direction contained within the General Plan Strategic Framework Element (adopted by the City Council on October 22, 2002) and would consolidate the existing thirteen elements in the 1979 General Plan into the following ten elements: Land Use and Community Planning; Mobility; Urban Design; Public Facilities, Services and Safety; Economic Prosperity; Recreation; Conservation; Historic Preservation; Noise and Housing (under separate cover).
