Document Description
Reconstruct historic machinery on the top level of the Bale Grist building. Complete the exhibit including re-assembly of the bolter, associated line shafts, gears, pulleys and belts. All replacement parts will be photo documented as part of the project record. Install upstairs cameras and downstairs video monitor to facilitate visual access to the upper mill area to visitors who may not be able to access the second story mill operations. Install mirrors in strategic locations so visitors on first level can see second level mill operations. Facilitate access compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act to upstairs mill operations by providing real-time listening systems, binoculars, binder of photos, and a new scale model of the interior mill operation. Construction will only occur from October 1st to March 1st when bats are not present. No modifications will occur to the immediate area where bats are known to roost. Prior to turning on modifications will occur to the immediate area where bats are known to roost. Prior to turning on equipment an evaluation of noise and vibration associated with the machinery will take place during the months of October to February, and will be coordinated with the district Environmental Scientist.
