Notice of Exemption

Exempt Status
Categorical Exemption
Type, Section or Code
Section 15314
Reasons for Exemption
Class 2 exempts the replacement or reconstruction of existing structures and facilities when the new structures will be located on the same site as the structure replaced and will have substantially the same purpose and capacity as the structure replaced. The small building adjacent to the pool will be reconstructed in the same location. In addition, the restrooms in the existing locker room southwest and adjacent to the pool will be remodeled to provide upgraded facilities and compliance with current standards. There will be no environmental impacts associated with the reconstruction of this facility as the building will replace an existing use. Class 14 consists of minor additions to existing schools within existing school grounds. The auxiliary gymnasium will not increase classroom space or increase the original student capacity of the school, but rather will serve the existing student population with expanded physical education facilities. The auxiliary gymnasium will be located in an area generally to the southeast of the main gymnasium/pool complex where asphalt play courts are currently located. The 14,203 square foot building will contain a full basketball court, a multi-purpose room, training room, and men's and women's restrooms. Site preparation work will be required including grading and trenching for utilities. There will be no environmental impacts associated with the construction of this facility as the building will be located on a vacant pad within a developed area of an existing school campus.
