Document Description
This EIR addresses actions associated with the proposed Shasta Metro Enterprise Zone project. Enterprise zones are state-designated economic development areas created to encourage and stimulate growth, development, and investment within economically depressed areas. This is generally achieved via tax, hiring, and financial incentives from the State, in combination with local assistance. On November 5, 1991, the Shasta Metro Enterprise Zone, which expired on November 3, 2006. Shasta County applied for a new Zone, with minor changes to existing Zone boundaries, and received a conditional designation on November 3, 2006. The new Zone encompasses all of the industrial and most of the commercial areas included in the previous Enterprise Zone.
