Document Description
The Discovery Center project consists of a new building and site construction on approximately 7 acres (construction impact area) within an 11.3 acres within the Whittier Narrows Recreation Area. The primary project features include a one story ~18,230 sf interpretive center, 150 car parking lot, maintenance building, open air classroom, constructed wetland, covered outdoor classroom, and connecting pathways from these locations. The existing Whittier Narrows Nature Center would be demolished in the new interpretive center. The LEED certified interpretive center would include a lobby, exhibit areas, classrooms, support facilities, and administrative offices.
