Reasons for Exemption
The shooting range was graded in the mid to late 1970's (personal communication with Fire Prevention Battalion Chief Larry Grafft, June 28, 2006). The present surface is a combination of imported gravel, concrete strips, and non-native grass-covered soil. Other than capping the area that supports non-native grass, no vegetation removal (herbaceous or woody) is required. This minor project does not propose to remove mature or scenic trees or other woody vegetation. The current setting is a highly disturbed area from prior implementation and continued maintenance for the purpose of on-going use as a shooting range for CDF peace officers.
